Q:What is solar power?
A:With all the new solar technologies we are now able to harness the suns power to heat water for your pool or home and also generate electricity. Solar electric technology, also know as photovoltaic or PV, converts the suns light into electricity.
|
Q:What is solar electricity (also called photovoltaic energy)?
A:Photovoltaic systems, also known as solar electric systems, convert sunlight directly into electricity that can be used to power your home or office. The PV modules collect the energy and then the inverter converts the power from DC to AC.

Q:Can solar energy lower my electric bill?
A:Yes, solar power can be harnessed to support any type of energy needed to power a home or business. You can “own” the energy at a fixed rate instead of “renting” it from a power utility company at fluctuating and increasing rates.Solar electric systems can greatly reduce your electric bill not to mention become one of your best investments. By putting solar electric (PV) on your home you protect yourself from increasing energy rates and allow yourself to make a profit off of something you were paying for previously. Check out our testimonials to hear about some of our previous customers success with solar.

Q:How can solar energy lower my carbon emissions?
A:Solar is a renewable energy source that is 100% pollution-free, so by choosing to have solar modules installed you are choosing to be green and reduce your carbon footprint in this world. 85% of the power from US utilities comes from non renewable fossil fuels which not only emits dangerous gasses when burned but once these fossil fuels run out there is no way to get more! Going solar means that you are reducing the amount of fossil fuels that we as a country use which in the end will help the planet and your wallet.
|
Q:How can solar energy reduce reliance on fossil fuels and foreign oil?
A:Because 85% of all US power comes from burning fossil fuels, much of which comes from unstable priced foreign oil, anytime you lessen your dependency on utility power you’re helping our country reduce its reliance on energy from energy sources that are environmentally-unfriendly and financially unstable. Solar energy comprises an alternative solution that relies on a stable force, the sun.

Q:How much does a residential solar system cost?
A:There are many factors that determine the price of a system (size of the roof, angle, shading, usage history, ect.) which is why at Revco Solar Engineering we set up a free in home consultation to take a look at the roof and bills. By doing this our energy consultant is able to give you an accurate price that is flexible depending on how much you want to reduce your bill. Keep in mind there a state rebates and federal tax credits available to help offset the costs of installing solar systems by almost 50%. You can learn more at www.gosolarcalifornia.org Before taking the federal and state incentives the starting price is as follows: The upfront cost for PV or solar electric systems costs $15,000 and up after the state incentive. Additionally, installed PV systems also qualify for a 30% federal tax rebate. The total savings from state and federal incentives amount to about 50%.

Q:What is a solar panel?
A:Solar water heating and solar electric (photovoltaic) systems receive solar energy in rectangular-shaped panels – also known as “collectors”. These solar collector panels can be mounted on either a building’s roof or on a ground mount. In solar water heating panels, water is heated by sun energy as it circulates through. Solar electric panels contain the materials that convert sunlight directly into electricity. Both types of panels are made to withstand a variety of weather including wind, heat, and hail.
|
Q:How long do solar panels last?
A:SunPower modules have a 25 year manufacturer warranty and Revco Solar warranties labor for 10 years after instillation.
|
Q:How much maintenance is required?
A:Photovoltaic systems typically require very little maintenance but cleaning the panels every 6 months is recommended. Cleaning panels more or less than the recommended amount varies depending on how dusty or dirty the area gets.
|
Q:How do I get incentives from the government or utility company?
A:Programs from state and utility companies change constantly and can be very time consuming so that’s why we dedicate one of our staff members at Revco Solar to take care of the whole process for you. When it is time to file taxes your tax professional will be able to assist you in claiming your tax credit.
